Colour and Emotion: Painting with Expressionism

Imagine a painting that makes your stomach flip just by looking at it. That is exactly what Norwegian artist Edvard Munch wanted when he created The Scream in 1893. The swirling orange sky, the agonised figure and the twisting landscape were not meant to show what the scene looked like — they were meant to show how it FELT.
