  1. Conducting the Score: Advanced Notation and InterpretationPupils learn to read and interpret advanced staff notation symbols — ties, dotted notes, dynamic markings and expressive directions — and explore how these choices shape mood and how performers interpret them differently.
  2. Voices of the World: Choral and Vocal TraditionsPupils explore global and historical vocal traditions — from medieval plainchant to gospel and beyond — learning how harmony, call-and-response and unison are used expressively. They identify features of at least three traditions and evaluate how vocal music communicates meaning and emotion.
  3. From Sketch to Symphony: The Composer's ProcessPupils explore the real process composers use — from scribbled ideas to finished symphonies — learning about motifs, structure and variation, then plan and notate their own short piece using at least three musical elements.
  4. Music and Memory: A Journey Through Musical HistoryPupils journey through Western musical history from Medieval times to the present day, learning to place key periods and composers on a timeline, understand how historical events shaped musical styles, and compare two contrasting pieces using precise musical vocabulary.
