  1. Layer by Layer: Texture and Structure in MusicPupils learn how composers layer sounds to create thin or thick texture, and how music is organised into structures like verse-chorus, call-and-response and ABA form. They match, sort and complete activities to cement these ideas before a short quiz.
  2. Dot to Dot: Extending Staff NotationPupils learn to read note values (semibreve, minim, crotchet, quaver) and their matching rests on the stave, then discover how time signatures 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 organise those notes into bars.
  3. Great Composers: Music Through the AgesPupils explore three great periods of Western music history — Baroque, Classical and Romantic — meeting key composers, learning how the music of each era sounds, and placing them on a musical timeline using appropriate vocabulary.
  4. Compose with a Purpose: Programme MusicPupils explore programme music — music that tells a story or paints a picture — by listening to descriptions of famous examples, learning key musical devices (dynamics, tempo, texture), and planning their own short graphic-score composition inspired by a chosen scene.
